Lecture at the "Construction Technology Forum

Our technical advisor, Associate Professor Tomonori Nagayama, spoke at the Construction Technology Forum held online on 6 February 2021.

The title of his presentation was "Development of quasi-real-time wide-area road surface crack rate evaluation technology using in-vehicle cameras", and he introduced the contents of our joint work with the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Engineering and Nichireki Corporation under the matching project of the Kanto Regional Development Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

Research overview

IN RECENT YEARS, THERE HAVE BEEN CASES OF AUTOMATIC DETECTION OF CRACKS IN PAVEMENTS USING PHOTOGRAPHY AND AI TECHNOLOGY, BUT IT IS DIFFICULT TO ACCURATELY CALCULATE THE CRACK RATE WITH GENERAL-PURPOSE PRODUCTS SUCH AS DRIVE RECORDERS INSTALLED IN THE CARRIAGES OF OFFICE AND BRANCH STAFF. VIDEO IMAGE PROCESSING TECHNOLOGY CAN BE USED TO ACCURATELY CALCULATE THE CRACK RATE.
